Sometimes, chronic muscle and bone pains like shin splints can be worsened by vitamin D3 deficiency or thyroid imbalances, which affect calcium absorption. I make sure to do my regular blood checkups to keep my levels stable. Definitely consult an orthopedic doctor or physical therapist to evaluate your running form.

Managing PCOS has taught me to listen to my body and avoid overtraining, as joint and muscle inflammation can flare up easily. I would suggest stopping your runs for a few days to let the shins rest fully. I am not an expert, so please check with a doctor if the pain doesn't go away.

For bone and muscle recovery, ensuring you have enough calcium, magnesium, and protein in your vegetarian diet is helpful, but it won't fix poor running mechanics. I suggest paying close attention to your stretching routine and shoe cushioning. Please talk to a sports doctor to get targeted advice for your shin pain.

Shin splints usually happen due to worn-out shoes or running on hard concrete surfaces. I recommend switching to low-impact walking or cycling for a while to maintain your fitness if your doctor allows. Focus on strengthening your calf muscles and tibialis anterior before you start running again.

I recently started jogging to stay healthy but my lower legs ache so much afterwards. I am a bit shy to ask, but is it normal to feel this pain on the bone itself, or is it just muscle soreness? Should I stop running completely until the pain goes away?

I consulted a sports medicine specialist at a reputed hospital for my shin pain, and he clearly warned me that running through shin splints can lead to stress fractures in the tibia. He advised a proper gait analysis and a strict rest-and-ice protocol. Please visit a qualified doctor to get a clear diagnosis before running again.
