When the skin feels extremely itchy, I practice deep pranayama like Anulom Vilom to calm my nervous system and distract my mind. The urge to scratch often reduces when the mind is settled and cool. Applying cold-pressed virgin coconut oil also keeps the dry skin calm and hydrated.

I always worry that scratching will break the skin and cause a severe blood infection, which makes me so anxious. To prevent this, I keep my nails trimmed very short and wear soft cotton gloves at home. It is definitely a good idea to consult your dermatologist for a safe anti-itch cream to prevent skin damage.

With my busy work schedule, I can't afford to be distracted by constant eczema itching. I keep a heavy, fragrance-free moisturizer on my desk and apply it every few hours to keep the dry barrier intact. If the itch is too severe, ask your doctor for a non-drowsy antihistamine so you can focus on your day.

I noticed that eating highly processed foods or too much sugar sometimes triggers my skin inflammation and makes my eczema itchier. While a clean, plant-based diet helps keep my body feeling good, you still need proper medical creams. Check with your doctor to see what lifestyle and treatment combo works best for your skin type.

I just got over a terrible eczema flare-up last week and the itching was unbearable. What saved me was using a cold ice pack wrapped in a cloth on the itchy spots instead of scratching, which immediately numbed the urge. Also, immediately switch to the gentle soap substitute that your skin doctor prescribes.
