How to stop major tooth pain?

Last night I had a terrible toothache, it was so bad I couldn't sleep. My gum was also swollen. What can I do at home to get immediate relief when I have such severe tooth pain, before I can see a dentist?

For temporary relief, you can rinse your mouth with warm salt water or apply a cold compress on your cheek. But major tooth pain usually means a deep cavity or infection, so check your health app for a dental clinic and book an appointment immediately.

I totally get it, major tooth pain is completely unbearable and makes it impossible to sleep or eat. Please try holding a cold water pack against your jaw and avoid chewing on that side, but do see a dentist first thing tomorrow.

At my age, half my teeth have stories of their own! Severe pain is usually the tooth's way of saying goodbye. Get a dentist to look at it, as keeping an infected tooth in your mouth will only ruin your week.

Don't delay this, because dental infections can spread and cost much more if you need major surgery later. Go to a government dental hospital or a charitable clinic if budget is an issue; they do extractions and root canals very affordably.

Bro, major tooth pain is the worst, I couldn't even study for my exams last semester because of it. Clove oil works like magic for a quick fix, but seriously, go to a dentist before it starts swelling up.

My dentist explained that severe throbbing tooth pain is often a sign of nerve damage or a dental abscess. While clove oil can numb the area for a few minutes, you absolutely need professional treatment like a root canal or antibiotics to cure the infection.
