How to stop acid reflux pain?

Lately, I've been getting really bad acid reflux, especially after eating spicy food. The burning pain in my chest is sometimes unbearable and keeps me up at night. What can I do to get rid of this pain quickly?

I used to get severe acid reflux pain and realized it was connected to my slow digestion from thyroid issues. Regular thyroid tests and managing my medication helped improve my gut health significantly. If your reflux is persistent, please see a doctor for a proper diagnosis instead of just treating the symptom.

Haan, that burning in the chest can be so uncomfortable, na. When it gets bad, I just drink a glass of cold milk or have some vanilla ice cream, and it gives instant relief. But do avoid heavy, oily parathas for dinner if you want to stop it from happening again.

For acid reflux, try adding more alkaline foods to your vegetarian diet, like cucumbers, melons, and bananas. Avoiding sour fruits, tomatoes, and excess tea or coffee on an empty stomach is also very important. These small dietary adjustments can naturally soothe the burning sensation.

I started tracking my food intake on an app and found that eating late at night was the main cause of my acid reflux. Try to finish your dinner at least two hours before sleeping and keep your head elevated on a wedge pillow. It keeps the stomach acid from flowing upwards physically.

I won't suggest any medicines, but for me, drinking warm water with a little fennel seeds after meals has been helpful. I also noticed that taking a short 15-minute walk after dinner instead of lying down immediately helped reduce my chest burning significantly.
