How to soothe round ligament pain?

I'm in my second trimester of pregnancy and lately, I've been getting these sharp, stabbing pains in my lower belly, especially when I move suddenly. My gynaecologist said it's round ligament pain. It's really uncomfortable; what can I do to soothe it?

Agree with everyone here. Changing your position very slowly when getting up from bed really helps prevent those sharp ligament pulls.

This sharp pain on the sides of the belly is very common in the second trimester as the baby grows. Gently supporting your belly with your hands when you cough or sneeze gives great relief. Don't worry, it is just your body expanding.

During my pregnancy, I had to manage both high BP and this ligament pain. Staying well-hydrated and taking complete rest when the pain started was helpful. Always make sure to report any sudden pains to your gynecologist during your regular BP checkups.

Keeping myself active with light, doctor-approved movements helped both my gestational diabetes and the ligament soreness. Make sure you don't use high-sugar energy drinks for hydration; stick to plain water or lemon water to stay hydrated.

If your doctor clears you for exercise, doing gentle prenatal pelvic tilts and light stretching can help strengthen your core muscles. A daily slow walk also keeps the body flexible, which reduces these sudden stretching pains.

While round ligament pain is normal, it is very important to get it confirmed by your doctor. You want to make sure it isn't any other issue like a urinary tract infection or early contractions. Never self-diagnose during pregnancy.

Don't panic when you feel that sudden sharp pull on one side; it is usually just your ligaments stretching to accommodate your growing baby. Try using a warm compress on the area and rest on your side with a pillow between your knees.

Using a basic pregnancy support belt helped me manage my daily household chores without feeling that heavy pulling pain. It distributes the weight of the belly nicely. Also, avoid lifting any heavy buckets or bags.
