A hot water bottle on your lower back and drinking warm chamomile tea works wonders for mild cramps. But if your back pain is so severe that you can't stand or if it doesn't go away after your period, you should definitely consult a gynecologist to rule out things like endometriosis.

My sister gets really bad back pain during her periods. I always help by setting up the heating pad for her and making sure she gets some rest. She says light stretching also helps ease the tension in her lower back.

My mother always makes me drink warm water mixed with a little fenugreek seeds to soothe internal heat and pain. It is comforting, but when my pain became unbearable last year, my doctor advised me to start specific core-strengthening exercises which have helped long-term.

My gynecologist explained that period back pain is caused by prostaglandins causing uterine contractions that radiate to the lower back. She recommended taking a mild anti-inflammatory medicine just as the cycle starts, rather than waiting for the pain to peak.

When my sugar levels fluctuate, my period pain sometimes feels much worse. I manage my backache with a heating pad and stay away from sugary comfort foods like chocolates, which can actually increase inflammation. Plain ginger tea without sugar is very soothing.

I used to suffer from terrible backaches during my youth. Taking adequate rest on those days and gently massaging the lower back with warm coconut oil always helped me. Don't push your body too hard during your cycle, beta.
