How to soothe nipple pain?

I'm a new mom, and breastfeeding has been challenging due to nipple pain. It's quite sore and makes feeding difficult. What are some gentle ways to soothe nipple pain while I'm still trying to breastfeed?

Please don't worry, this is actually very common and happens due to hormonal shifts or friction. Try wearing soft, seamless cotton bras and avoid any harsh soaps in the shower. If you are breastfeeding, check the baby's latch as that is usually the main cause.

Ah, the joys of hormonal changes! My body finds new places to hurt every month. Applying a tiny bit of pure coconut oil helps soothe the dry, chafed skin quickly. Just keep things breathable and don't wear tight clothes.

If you are nursing, applying a few drops of express breastmilk on the nipples after a feed works wonders to heal cracks. Also, hydrogel breast pads are a lifesaver for cooling down the burning sensation. If the pain is deep or sharp, consult a lactation expert.

I got so scared when I had one-sided soreness last month and Googled all sorts of scary things. My gynecologist checked and said it was just cyclic pain before my period. It went away on its own in three days, so take a deep breath.

Before you spend money on expensive creams or consulting fancy specialists, check if it's just friction from your workout wear. Getting a good sports bra is cheaper than doctor visits. If you do need a scan, government diagnostic centers do mammograms and ultrasounds at very nominal rates.

Apply a little ghee or pure coconut oil on the area after your bath to keep the skin soft and prevent cracking. Avoid synthetic fabrics completely as they cause sweating and irritation. If there is any swelling or discharge, you must show a lady doctor immediately.
