How to soothe ear pain?

My little one, she's four, woke up crying last night because of ear pain. She gets these sometimes after a cold. Any tips on how to soothe her discomfort, especially in the middle of the night?

I literally just had this terrible earache last week after a bad cold. Applying a warm compress with a clean cloth against my ear gave me instant, temporary relief from that throbbing feeling. But seriously, don't put any random drops inside your ear without a doctor checking it first.

Hey, don't stress too much, ear pain is super annoying but it usually gets better soon. Just sleep with your head slightly elevated using an extra pillow to reduce the pressure in your ear tonight. If it still hurts badly tomorrow morning, just go get it checked by an ENT doc, okay?

In my experience, gentle breathing exercises like Bhramari Pranayama can help soothe the tension and pressure around your head and ears. Make sure you stay in a quiet space and keep your body relaxed. Do not put any oils or liquids inside the ear canal directly as it might worsen an infection.

When you have a busy work week, an earache can totally ruin your productivity. I usually take a basic steam inhalation to clear any sinus congestion that might be causing the ear pressure. If that doesn't show results in a few hours, book a quick online doctor consultation instead of waiting around.

Ear pain can sometimes be a sign of a middle ear infection or fluid buildup, which can damage your eardrum if ignored. Please avoid using cotton buds or home-remedy drops like garlic oil. The safest route is to have an ENT doctor look inside with an otoscope to give you the correct ear drops.

Sometimes congestion from cold foods can trigger ear pressure, so I always avoid curd, cold juices, and ice-creams when my ear hurts. Drink warm tulsi and ginger water to naturally reduce the inflammation in your throat and sinuses. Keeping your diet light and warm really helps speed up recovery.

My health tracker showed my sleep quality dropped immensely last time I had an earache. I used a warm heating pad set to a very low temperature for 10 minutes to help relieve the throbbing so I could rest. Logging your symptoms on an app can also help you explain things better to the ENT doctor later.
