How to sleep with tailbone pain?

My tailbone pain has gotten worse lately, and I just can't get comfortable at night. Every position seems to aggravate it. Are there any specific sleeping positions or pillows that can help with tailbone pain?

Trying to sleep with tailbone pain is a comedy show. You can't lie on your back, and side sleeping hurts after an hour. I've basically built a fort of pillows around me just to stay suspended in mid-air!

I totally get it, sitting and sleeping both become torture when your tailbone is inflamed. Try using a donut-shaped pillow if you have to sit up in bed, and sleep only on your side. It really helps reduce the pressure.

I suggest sleeping strictly on your side and placing a pillow between your knees to take the pressure off your tailbone. A warm compress before bed can also soothe the area thoda. But if the pain is from a fall, please get an X-ray done.

In our days, we used to sleep on a firm cotton mattress for any spine pain. Avoid very soft beds as they make the tailbone sink and hurt more. Sleeping on your side with bent legs is the safest way to rest.

If your doctor allows, some very gentle glute stretches before bed can relieve the tension around the tailbone. When sleeping, side sleeping with a pillow between your legs is best for spine alignment. Avoid sleeping on your back entirely.

When I had coccydynia last year, sleeping on my back was impossible. I only slept on my side with a thick pillow hugged tightly between my thighs. It took about three weeks to heal but this position kept me sane.
