To sleep better with sciatica, keep your core relaxed but supported. Try sleeping on your back with a dense foam roller or a couple of thick pillows under your knees to take the tension off your lower back. Consistent core strengthening during the day also helps a lot.

I panicked so much when I first got that shooting pain, thinking I would never walk properly again! But honestly, it is very common and manageable. Just sleeping with a pillow between your knees on your side relieves the pressure almost instantly, so don't stress.

A very gentle way to prepare for sleep with sciatica is to practice child's pose (Balasana) with a pillow under your chest for five minutes. This gently stretches the lower back muscles. Follow this by sleeping on your side with a soft cushion supporting your knees.

According to my orthopedist, sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees reduces lumbar lordosis and relieves pressure on the nerve roots. If you are a side sleeper, placing a pillow between your knees aligns the hips and prevents pelvic rotation. This simple biomechanical fix really works.

A light, 15-minute slow walk after dinner can help warm up the muscles and reduce nighttime sciatic stiffness. If your doctor allows it, keeping active during the day makes sleeping much easier. At night, just use a pillow under your knees for extra lumbar support.

Please be careful with all these online suggestions; what works for a muscle spasm might make a herniated disc worse. Don't trust random sleeping hacks blindly. Verify with a qualified doctor first to know exactly why your nerve is pinching and how to rest safely.

While pillow adjustments can help you get through the night, please do not ignore sciatica pain. It is crucial to get it checked by a physiotherapist or doctor to ensure there is no severe nerve compression. Safety first, always.
