How to sleep with pinched nerve in shoulder blade?

I've had this sharp pain in my shoulder blade for a few days, I think it's a pinched nerve. Every position I try in bed just makes it worse. How can I sleep to avoid aggravating it further?

It is extremely painful to lie down on that side. Try sleeping on the opposite side with a pillow tucked under your arm to support the shoulder.

Hey, don't stress too much about it, it will heal with a little rest. Just put a nice soft pillow under your arm on the painful side so your shoulder doesn't collapse forward while you sleep. It really helps take the pressure off!

My son had this shoulder blade pain from carrying his heavy college bag. I made him sleep flat on his back without a thick head pillow, and instead put a flat, firm cushion under his upper back to keep the shoulders relaxed.

With diabetes, nerve issues take longer to settle down. I found that sleeping strictly on my back with a small rolled towel under my neck and a soft pillow supporting the affected arm kept the spine aligned and reduced the morning numbness.

I completely understand how terrifying it feels when the pain shoots down your arm at night; I used to lie awake worrying it was something worse. Honestly, sleeping semi-upright on a recliner with a warm compress helped calm both my shoulder and my mind.
