How to sleep with herniated disc l5-s1?

I have a herniated disc at L5-S1, and the pain in my lower back and leg is making every night a battle. I just want to know how to sleep without this constant discomfort. Please suggest something.

Welcome to the L5-S1 club, where your lower back behaves like a grumpy old man. I find that sleeping on my back with a giant bolster under my knees is the only way to appease my spine. Anything else and my lower back goes on strike the next morning!

I have been dealing with L5-S1 pain too, and it is so hard to find a good position. Sleeping on my side with a pillow between my knees and keeping my spine straight really helped take the pressure off my tailbone area. Hope you find some relief tonight.

L5-S1 is a literal pain during exam prep when I have to sit for hours. For sleeping, I just slide a flat pillow under my lower back and a thick one under my knees. It keeps my spine in a neutral position so I can actually get some sleep.

Yaar, L5-S1 pain is actually so annoying because it shoots straight into the glutes. Lying flat on my back with a pillow under my knees works best for me. Just avoid sleeping on your stomach at all costs, yaar.

Don't just follow any random sleeping positions you see online for L5-S1. Depending on whether your disc bulges backward or sideways, different positions can help or hurt. Get a proper assessment from your physiotherapist first.

My teenage daughter suffered from L5-S1 slip disc due to sports. I made sure she slept on a firm mattress and put a small rolled towel under her lower back for support. It helped keep her spine stable and reduced her morning pain.

I tried heated belts, balms, and different mattresses for my L5-S1 pain. Ultimately, sleeping on my side with a thick pillow between my legs and a warm water bag on my lower back before sleeping worked the best. It takes trial and error, so be patient.
