How to sleep with crick in neck?

Since yesterday morning, my neck has been really stiff, almost like a 'crick'. It's so uncomfortable and turning my head is painful. I can't find a good position to sleep in; any tips on how to manage this at night?

Woke up today with a neck so stiff I can't even turn to look at my phone. Honestly, I just took a hot shower, let the warm water run on my neck, and now I'm sleeping flat on my back without any pillow. It feels way better than using a thick one.

Don't worry, a neck crick usually settles down in a couple of days. For tonight, try to sleep on your side with a pillow that just fills the gap between your neck and the mattress—nothing too high or too flat. Keep the fan or AC draft away from your neck so the muscles don't stiffen further.

I have got this neck pain for the first time and it's really painful to even lie down. I tried to apply some balm but it still hurts. Is it safe to use a hot water bag on the neck before sleeping, or will it make the swelling worse?

I was just reading up on this because my neck is locked since yesterday. Apparently, sleeping on your stomach is the worst thing you can do for a neck crick because it forces your head to one side. Side or back sleeping with a rolled towel under the neck for support seems to be the consensus.

Does anyone else get a mild headache along with a neck crick? It's making me so anxious and I can't find a comfortable position to rest my head. I'm scared I might pull a nerve if I sleep wrong tonight.

My son got a bad neck crick after sleeping under a direct AC vent. I made him sleep on his back with a very thin orthopedic pillow and applied some warm mustard oil with garlic. Keep your neck warm tonight with a light scarf, it really helps the muscles relax.
