How to sleep with cracked ribs?

I have cracked ribs from a fall, and the pain is making it impossible to get any sleep. Every movement hurts, and I can't find a position that doesn't put pressure on them. How can I sleep more comfortably?

Oh beta, cracked ribs are very painful. Try to sleep in a slightly sitting position on your bed, using three or four big pillows behind your back. Sleeping straight flat can make it very hard to sit up in the morning.

Please be very careful with rib injuries. I had a cracked rib and tried to sleep through severe pain, which later turned out to be a fluid buildup because I wasn't breathing deeply enough. Please get a doctor to check your lungs if you have any difficulty in breathing.

Man, rib pain is brutal but don't stress too much, it gets better in a few weeks. The absolute best trick is to sleep on a recliner chair if you have one, or just prop yourself up with pillows. Rolling onto your side is going to hurt, so stay propped up!

Hey! 🌸 Try sleeping on the injured side actually! Sounds crazy, but many doctors recommend sleeping on the hurt side with a pillow hugged tightly to your chest to stop the ribs from moving too much when you breathe. Give it a shot! 😊

When I had a rib injury, my doctor at Max Hospital explicitly told me how to position my body and what pain meds to take before sleeping to avoid shallow breathing. Don't rely entirely on internet hacks; ask your treating doctor clearly about safe sleeping postures for your specific crack.
