How to sleep with cpap?

My husband started using a CPAP machine for his sleep apnea, but he's really struggling to get comfortable with it. He tosses and turns all night. What are the best sleeping positions for someone using a CPAP?

It is completely normal to feel claustrophobic and anxious when you first start using a CPAP machine, I used to cry thinking I can't sleep like this. What helped me was wearing the mask during the evening while watching TV just to get used to the feeling. Take it slow, it gets easier.

I tried all kinds of herbal teas and head elevation techniques for my snoring, but ultimately CPAP was necessary. To sleep comfortably with it, use a special CPAP pillow with cutouts on the sides so your mask doesn't get pushed out of place when you sleep on your side.

Managing diabetes means I have to keep my sleep apnea in check too, as poor sleep shoots up fasting sugar levels. Getting used to the CPAP took me three weeks. I found that adjusting the strap tension so it's snug but not digging into the skin made sleeping much more comfortable.

My cardiologist insisted on CPAP because my high BP wasn't coming down despite medicines. Sleeping with it was tough initially, but keeping the humidifier setting correct stopped my nose from drying up. Keep getting your pressure checked regularly to see the improvements.

I help my mother with her CPAP machine and she found it much easier to sleep once we routed the tubing over the pillow instead of across her body. Also, cleaning the mask daily with mild soap stops any itching on the face, which makes sleeping way more comfortable.

Starting CPAP is tough, haan. Pehle pehle toh bilkul neend nahi aati thi mask ke sath. But you have to keep trying daily, na. Try the nasal pillows instead of the full face mask if you feel too suffocated, it is much lighter.

My dad uses a CPAP and he used to struggle a lot sleeping on his side. He literally got a tube hanger that holds the hose above his head on the headboard so it doesn't get tangled when he moves. Pretty cheap hack but works like a charm!

Along with using the CPAP, working on clean eating and reducing body fat percentage helped reduce my apnea symptoms significantly. When sleeping with the machine, try to maintain a consistent sleep schedule and avoid heavy meals right before sleeping so your digestion is easy.
