How to sleep with calcific tendonitis?

I've been diagnosed with calcific tendonitis in my shoulder, and the pain is awful at night. It's really affecting my sleep. How can I sleep comfortably without aggravating my shoulder?

My high blood pressure makes me very sensitive to pain, which ruins my sleep. I avoid sleeping on the affected shoulder completely and use a special contour pillow to keep my neck and shoulder aligned.

Just sleep on your opposite side and hug a thick pillow so your painful arm doesn't drop forward and strain the shoulder. It is a very simple, no-cost way to sleep without waking up in pain.

I know how frustrating and scary it is when you can't find a single comfortable position to sleep because of shoulder pain. Don't worry, sleeping on your back with a pillow under your elbow really helps release the pressure.

My family suggested warm sesame oil, which is soothing, but I highly recommend sticking to the physical therapy exercises your doctor advised. For sleeping, keeping the arm elevated on a pillow next to you works best.

I totally get it, that sharp, deep ache in the shoulder makes it impossible to fall asleep. Try placing a small cushion behind your back so you don't accidentally roll over onto the painful shoulder during the night.

Avoid any overhead sleeping positions as they pinch the tendon even more. Sleep on your back with a small pillow supporting the shoulder blade, and take any anti-inflammatory prescribed by your doctor before bed.
