How to sleep with a twisted ankle?

I twisted my ankle pretty badly playing football yesterday, and it's swollen and really painful. I'm worried about aggravating it further while sleeping. Any tips on how to sleep comfortably with a twisted ankle?

I just twisted my ankle playing football last week and the first two nights were tough. What saved me was stacking two firm pillows under my calf and ankle to keep it elevated. It stops the swelling and throbbing so you can actually fall asleep.

An ice pack wrapped in a towel for 15 minutes before bed can really numb the pain. Keep the foot raised on a pillow tonight, but if you cannot put any weight on it tomorrow or if it looks blue, please get an X-ray done immediately.

Look, don't massage the twisted ankle at all because that will just increase the swelling. Just put ice on it, prop it up on a pillow, and sleep quietly. If it still hurts badly tomorrow, go to a doctor.

Keeping the ankle elevated on a couple of pillows higher than your heart level is absolutely the best way to sleep without pain.

For diabetic patients, any foot injury needs extra care because of slower healing. Make sure you keep the ankle elevated on pillows while sleeping, and avoid wrapping it too tightly which might restrict blood circulation. Check your feet daily for any redness.

At my age, a simple slip on the stairs feels like a major accident. I am currently sleeping with my leg propped up on three pillows like a royal monument. Just stay still and try not to do any midnight adventures to the kitchen.
