How to sleep with a sprained ankle?

I sprained my ankle pretty badly yesterday while playing badminton, and it's throbbing right now. I'm worried about how I'll sleep tonight with all this pain and swelling. Any tips on positions or anything to help?

Keeping the leg elevated on two soft pillows while sleeping really helps reduce the throbbing. Also, try to avoid heavy, inflammatory foods at dinner so your body can focus on healing. Warm milk with a pinch of turmeric can also be very soothing before bed.

Beta, you must keep the sprained foot raised higher than your heart level using a couple of pillows. Before sleeping, you can apply a simple warm paste of turmeric and salt if there is no open wound, but do not massage it at all. Let the joint rest completely.

I sprained my ankle during Zumba last month and sleeping was a nightmare. I found that sleeping on my back with a wedge pillow under my knees and ankles kept it totally stable. Try to avoid turning on your side because the weight of the blanket can twist it again.

Just use a normal bedsheet or extra pillow to create a support barrier on both sides of your foot so you don't roll over in your sleep. It is a simple ghar ka tarika that works wonders. If the pain is too sharp to sleep, ask your doctor for a safe painkiller patch.

Pillows are going to be your best friends tonight! Just stack them up under your leg and try to relax with some nice music 🎵. Avoid moving around too much and sleep like a queen!
