How to sleep with a slipped disk?

My father has a slipped disk, and he's been complaining a lot about not being able to sleep properly because of the pain. He tosses and turns all night. Can someone suggest specific sleeping postures or tips that could help him?

My child, a slipped disk is a very serious matter and needs proper care. For sleeping, try lying on your back with a firm pillow placed under your knees to reduce strain on the lower back. Some find sleeping on the side in a fetal position, with a pillow between the knees, helpful too. A gentle warm oil massage for the back, if comfortable, can sometimes soothe the muscles, but be very gentle.

A slipped disk is a condition that requires careful medical attention and ongoing management, similar to thyroid issues where regular tests are crucial. While comfortable sleeping positions are important, you must be under a doctor's care, preferably an orthopaedic specialist or neurosurgeon, and a physiotherapist. Follow their specific instructions for sleeping and exercises to prevent further damage.

Oh my god, a slipped disk sounds so incredibly painful and scary! I'd be constantly worrying about moving wrong in my sleep. Definitely try sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees, or on your side with a pillow between your knees. It's supposed to keep your spine aligned. But please, please see a specialist and get their exact advice, don't take any chances!

With a slipped disk, protecting your spine and finding stillness is vital. I recommend sleeping on your back with a pillow under your knees, which helps flatten your lower back slightly. Gentle, conscious breathing (pranayama) before bed can also help relax the surrounding muscles, aiding in finding a comfortable, pain-free sleep posture. Listen to your body and move slowly.

Hey, dealing with a slipped disk is really tough, and disrupted sleep only makes it harder. Be kind to yourself. Try to create a comfortable 'nest' in your bed. Many find relief sleeping on their back with a pillow under their knees, or on their side in a gentle fetal position with a pillow between the knees. The goal is to keep your spine as neutral as possible. Take it easy.

Sleeping with a slipped disk is very challenging. For some relief, lying on your back with a pillow under your knees, or on your side with a pillow between your knees, can help align the spine. A warm compress before bed can also soothe the area. However, a slipped disk is a serious condition, and if the pain is severe or you have numbness, you absolutely must see an orthopaedic doctor or physiotherapist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

A slipped disk initially made me panic about how I'd ever sleep again. But once you find your spot, it becomes manageable. For me, sleeping on my back with a pillow supporting my lower back and another under my knees was the only way. Don't stress too much, your body will tell you what works. And keep up with your physio exercises, they're key!
