How to sleep with a slipped disc?

I've been diagnosed with a slipped disc, and the back pain is excruciating, especially at night. I can't find a single comfortable position. What are the best sleeping positions to minimize pain and get some rest with a slipped disc?

A slipped disc is a serious orthopaedic condition that requires professional medical advice. For sleeping, you absolutely must consult your orthopaedic surgeon or physiotherapist. They can guide you on the safest and most pain-reducing sleeping positions, often involving specific pillow placements or mattress types. Relying on general advice could worsen your condition.

Please, please be extremely careful with a slipped disc. I had one years ago, and thought I could manage. But I made it worse by not following proper advice, leading to surgery. While supportive pillows help, you MUST see a doctor or a good physiotherapist to get specific instructions. Don't risk further damage.

Wow, a slipped disc sounds incredibly painful, I can only imagine how difficult it must be to find any comfortable position. I've heard that keeping the spine as neutral as possible is key. So, lots of pillows for support under knees or between legs seems to be the common advice. Hope you find relief soon!

My son suffered a slipped disc during an accident. It was heartbreaking to see him in pain. We found that sleeping on his back with a firm pillow under his knees was the most comfortable position for him. Also, a medium-firm mattress is very important. Always follow the physio's exercises, even for a few minutes before bed.
