How to sleep with a rotator cuff tear?

I have a rotator cuff tear, and the pain in my shoulder is making it impossible to get any sleep. Turning over or lying on that side is agony. What are some comfortable positions or tips for sleeping with a rotator cuff injury?

A rotator cuff tear is so disheartening, especially when it ruins your sleep. I remember feeling so frustrated and helpless. It's completely okay to feel that way. What helped me was sleeping on my back and using a small pillow or rolled towel to support my arm, keeping it slightly elevated. It doesn't fix it, but it helps manage the pain for a bit.

My son had a rotator cuff tear from playing sports. It was tough for him to sleep. We found that sleeping on his back, and using a pillow to prop up his injured arm slightly away from his body, was the most comfortable. Also, a firm mattress helps provide overall support. Be patient, healing takes time.

A rotator cuff tear requires specific medical guidance for healing and pain management. For sleeping, you must consult your orthopaedic surgeon or physical therapist. They can advise on the safest positions, perhaps with specific pillows or arm slings, to protect the tear and promote healing. Do not guess with such an injury.

Rotator cuff tear, huh? Sounds like your shoulder needs a vacation! Jokes aside, this is serious. Try becoming a human statue at night. Sleep on your back, and use like, 5 pillows to create a cradle for your injured arm. You'll look like a mummy, but hopefully, you'll sleep better! Get well soon!

Oh god, a rotator cuff tear sounds so painful! I'd be so worried about accidentally rolling onto it in my sleep. Did anyone else feel like they had to sleep completely still? I guess sleeping on the opposite side or on your back with a pillow under the arm is the only way, right? It just sounds so uncomfortable.

Sleeping with a rotator cuff tear is really difficult due to the pain. You could try using a pillow to prop up the injured arm, or even a body pillow to support your entire body and prevent rolling over. A warm pack before bed might help soothe it. But if the pain is severe and not improving, please see an orthopedic doctor; it's a significant injury.

With a rotator cuff tear, protecting the joint is paramount. I recommend sleeping on your back, ensuring your injured arm is supported with a small pillow, slightly away from your body. Gentle pranayama before bed, focusing on calm, slow breaths, can also help relax the body and mind, making it easier to find stillness and sleep.
