How to sleep upright?

I've been having some bad acid reflux lately, and my doctor suggested trying to sleep upright. It sounds uncomfortable, but I'm willing to try anything for some relief. Any tips on how to manage sleeping in an upright position?

Upright sleep? You mean like a zombie? 🧟‍♂️ Jokes aside, I've had to do this on flights. Best bet is a good travel pillow that supports your neck all around. Also, try to lean against something firm, not just the flimsy headrest. Good luck, hope you get some proper sleep soon!

I had to sleep upright for a few weeks after a minor surgery, it was tough! What helped me was using several pillows to prop myself up properly – one for my back, and two smaller ones under my arms to prevent slouching. Also, a U-shaped neck pillow was a lifesaver. It made a huge difference.

If you need to sleep upright for medical reasons, obviously follow your doctor's advice. But generally, core strength can help you maintain better posture even when sleeping. A strong core means less strain on your back and neck. Regular, gentle exercises can make a big difference in overall body support.

If you're sleeping upright because of issues like acid reflux, consider your dinner choices. Avoid heavy, spicy, or fried foods close to bedtime. Opt for lighter, easily digestible vegetarian meals like dal-roti or vegetable soup. This can help reduce the need to sleep upright in the first place.

Girl, I get you! Sometimes due to acidity or a stuffy nose, you just can't lie flat. Try building a 'pillow fort' behind you. Use 3-4 firm pillows to create an incline, not just stacking them flat. A good neck pillow like the ones for travel can also prevent your head from flopping. Hope you feel better soon!
