How to sleep sitting up?

Sometimes due to travel or small spaces, I have to sleep sitting up, like on a bus or train. I always wake up with a terrible crick in my neck. What's the best way to sleep sitting up without discomfort?

I had to sleep sitting up after a minor surgery, and it was hard! I found that using a bunch of pillows to prop myself up against the headboard, and then a neck pillow, made it manageable. Also, make sure you're not just slumping, try to keep your back relatively straight. A footrest also helps blood circulation!

Sleeping sitting up requires good support to avoid neck and back pain. Use a firm, wedge-shaped pillow or stack a few pillows to create a stable incline. Also, a U-shaped travel pillow for your neck helps keep your head from flopping around. Make sure your feet are supported too, maybe on a stool.

Sleeping sitting up can be necessary for certain conditions, like severe acid reflux or post-surgery. If you have thyroid issues, ensuring good sleep in any position is vital. Make sure you're getting regular check-ups and discuss this specific need with your doctor. They might have tailored advice or suggest specific support devices.

Oh, I totally get it, sleeping sitting up can be so uncomfortable! It's difficult to get proper rest. To make it a bit easier, try using a wedge pillow or stacking multiple firm pillows to support your upper body. Also, a good neck pillow helps prevent your head from falling forward or sideways. Hope you find some comfort!

I just recovered from a chest infection and had to sleep sitting up for days! What worked for me was using like 3-4 firm pillows against the headboard, and then a C-shaped pillow to support my neck. Also, make sure your bottom half is comfortable; I put a small pillow under my knees to relieve lower back pressure.

If you *need* to sleep sitting up regularly, please consult a doctor to understand why and how best to do it. I once had to for a while and ended up with terrible neck and back issues because I didn't have proper guidance. It's not a natural sleep position, so get professional advice to avoid complications.
