How to sew a sleep mask?
I'm looking for a fun little DIY project, and a sleep mask sounds useful for my afternoon naps. What's the easiest way to sew one at home?

Using a soft cotton fabric from an old clean kurti is the best way to make a gentle sleep mask at home. It breathes well and blocks out light naturally. But listen, if your sleep issues are very severe and making you dizzy during the day, do consult a doctor instead of just trying to block out light.
I actually made one last semester using an old black t-shirt and some elastic! Just cut out a basic eye-goggle shape twice, stitch them together inside-out, leave a small gap to flip it, insert some cotton padding, and sew it shut with the elastic. It is super easy and u don't even need a sewing machine, basic hand stitching works.
I am also thinking of sewing a small mask for myself because the street lights outside my window are very bright. Can anyone tell me what kind of soft material is best for the inner padding so it doesn't feel too heavy on the eyelids?
Please be very careful with the fabric you choose for the mask. I once used a synthetic scrap material that gave me a severe eye allergy and skin infection which took weeks to cure with doctor's help. Make sure whatever you sew is 100% breathable cotton and washed thoroughly before use.
Along with a good handmade mask to block light, physical fatigue really helps you fall asleep instantly. I make sure to avoid screen time an hour before bed and keep my room completely dark. If you train hard during the day, your body naturally craves that deep recovery sleep.
A sleep mask is great for blocking light, but please don't use it to hide a bigger problem. I ignored my chronic insomnia for a year thinking a handmade mask and earplugs would fix it, but it turned out to be severe sleep apnea. Definitely get a checkup if your sleep is constantly disturbed.
I am no expert on sleep issues, but making my own silk mask really helped me feel comfortable. I just cut two oval shapes from an old silk tie, padded it with a layer of flannel, and hand-stitched the borders. It feels very cool on the skin during hot summer nights.

My mother always tells us to use pure cotton and wash it in warm water with a pinch of turmeric before sewing to keep it hygienic. It is a wonderful DIY project to try. But yes, if you are having constant headaches or sleeplessness, please visit a doctor to find the root cause.
Aap simple cotton kapda le lijiye, jo ghar pe bacha ho. Double layer karke thodi rui ya mulayam kapda andar daal dein aur side mein patli elastic naye tarike se si lein. Bahut aaram milega aankhon ko aur nend bhi achhi aayegi.
In our days, we simply used a clean, folded soft cotton dupatta to cover our eyes if the room was too bright. Sewing one is quite simple, just use a soft satin or cotton lining so it doesn't press hard on your nose. With time, you will realize that a quiet, relaxed mind is the key to deep sleep anyway.
