How to say arthritis?

My mother-in-law has been complaining about joint pain for a while, and the doctor said it might be arthritis. I'm trying to understand the condition better, but I'm not sure how to pronounce the medical term correctly. Could someone guide me on how to say 'arthritis'?

Arthritis usually refers to inflammation of joints. I use a fitness app that tracks my joint pain levels, and it uses 'arthritis' as a general term for joint discomfort. There are different types like osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, but commonly, people just say arthritis.

My mother-in-law has it, and she just calls it 'ghutno ka dard' or 'jodon ka dard' in Hindi, meaning joint pain. When speaking English, she just says arthritis. It's a medical term for joint issues.

I totally get why you'd ask this, it's one of those medical terms that people hear a lot but might not fully understand. Basically, it's a condition causing pain and swelling in joints. If you or someone you know is experiencing joint pain, it's good to get it checked by a doctor.

Yeah, I was also wondering about the correct pronunciation and what it actually means. So it's basically inflammation of the joints, and the 'itis' part always means inflammation, right? Like gastritis or bronchitis.
