How to safely co sleep with infant?

My infant needs to be close to me to sleep, and I'm considering co-sleeping. However, I'm very concerned about SIDS and other risks. Could someone please tell me how to safely co-sleep with an infant, what precautions should I take?

Does anyone else wake up startled every hour just to check if the baby is breathing fine while co-sleeping? I try to keep all pillows away from him, but the fear of rolling over him never really goes away.

Our family faced a bad scare with an accidental suffocation incident, luckily the baby was fine. Please do not take co-sleeping lightly. I strongly recommend consulting your pediatrician to understand the exact guidelines for safe infant sleep.

The most practical solution is to use a bedside cot that attaches directly to your bed. It doesn't cost much and gives the baby their own safe sleeping surface while keeping them at arm's reach for feeding. It saves a lot of worry.

We kept a separate firm cotton gaddi for my baby brother right next to my mom on the bed. No heavy blankets or soft pillows near him at all. It is simple, practical, and kept him safe while being close to mom.

Keep the bed super simple! Just a firm mattress, a fitted sheet, and baby sleeping in a safe sleep sack. No fluffy blankets or toys, and you both will have a peaceful, safe sleep tonight!

Look, if you are a heavy sleeper or if anyone in the bed smokes or drinks, co-sleeping is a big NO. Put the baby in a crib next to the bed. Safety of the child comes before our convenience, simple as that.

I co-slept with both my children safely. The key rules are: mattress must be very firm, no duvets or pillows near the baby, and never let the baby sleep on the side of a soft mattress. Also, never co-sleep if you have taken any medication that makes you drowsy.

In our times, we used a small cotton bed (gaddi) for the baby and kept it in the center of the large bed. It protects the baby from any accidental rolling. Keep the baby's head free of any heavy cloths to avoid overheating.

I was reading up on this for my sister who is expecting. It seems the 'Safe Sleep Seven' guidelines are highly recommended by lactation experts if you choose to co-sleep. It is worth looking up to make sure you are doing it right.

Keeping your infant close brings a very beautiful bond, but we must protect them. Keep your sleeping space clean, calm, and free of heavy bedding. May the divine keep your little angel safe and healthy.
