How to remove psoriasis scales from scalp?

My scalp psoriasis has been really bad lately, the scales are thick and sometimes bleed. It's so embarrassing and uncomfortable, I don't know what to do. Is there any way to effectively remove these scales from my head without damaging my hair?

I have lived with scalp psoriasis for over thirty years now. In my experience, staying calm and not scratching the scalp is the best remedy. With proper medicated shampoos and a healthy routine, the scales always subside, so do not lose heart.

The key is to soften the scalp scales before you try to wash them out. You can apply warm coconut oil or a doctor-prescribed salicylic acid lotion, leave it for an hour, and then use a fine-toothed comb very gently to lift the loose scales. Never force them off if they are still attached to the skin.

Please keep your mind peaceful, as our skin often reflects our inner state. Take good care of your body, eat nourishing meals, and use a mild herbal or doctor-prescribed wash for your scalp. Blessings for your healing journey.

I ignored my scalp scales thinking it was just dry skin and ended up scratching so hard that I got a severe bacterial infection and temporary hair loss patches. Please don't neglect it like I did. Go see a qualified dermatologist immediately.

I just cleared up a major scalp flare-up last week. My doctor put me on a coal tar shampoo twice a week and told me to leave it on for 10 minutes before rinsing. It completely loosened up the scales without any hair loss.
