How to remove oily dandruff?

My scalp gets really oily, and then I get this flaky, oily dandruff which is super embarrassing. I've tried anti-dandruff shampoos but it always comes back. How can I effectively remove oily dandruff for good?

Oily dandruff can be really stubborn and frustrating to deal with. Try to wash your hair regularly with a gentle clarifying shampoo so grease doesn't build up. Hope it gets better for you soon.

I ignored my greasy, itchy scalp for months thinking it was just normal dandruff, and ended up with severe hair fall and a bad fungal infection. Please don't make the same mistake I did. Go to a good dermatologist and get a proper medicated lotion before it gets worse.

In our days, we used a gentle paste of curd and a few drops of lemon juice to clean the excess oil from the scalp. Apply it for fifteen minutes before you wash your hair. However, if your scalp has painful bumps, avoid these home remedies and consult a doctor.

For oily dandruff, a shampoo with zinc pyrithione or ketoconazole is usually what works best because it targets the yeast feeding on the oil. Make sure you leave the lather on your scalp for at least 3 to 5 minutes before rinsing. Keep your hair combs sanitized too.

Dermatologist visits and specialized ketoconazole shampoos can easily cost you 1500 to 2000 rupees. I suggest starting with a basic, affordable over-the-counter anti-dandruff shampoo containing salicylic acid twice a week. If that doesn't work in a month, then plan your budget for a doctor's consultation.
