How to remove newborn dandruff?

My newborn has cradle cap, and while it's normal, I want to make sure I'm cleaning it properly. What's the best way to gently and safely remove newborn dandruff or cradle cap?

Honestly I used to cry seeing my little one's flaky scalp, thinking I did something wrong during bath time. Please don't stress yourself, it is very common and usually goes away on its own. Just be gentle when you wash their hair and don't pick at those dry flakes at all.

Look, don't use any harsh chemical shampoos or try to scratch those flakes off with your nails. It is just cradle cap, completely normal for babies. Just rub mild baby oil, let it sit for ten minutes, brush it out very softly, and wash it off with a gentle baby shampoo.

Currently writing this at 3 AM while holding my baby. We just apply a tiny bit of coconut oil and brush it with an incredibly soft baby brush before his daily bath. Half the time I can't tell if the white flakes are dandruff or spit-up, but the oil trick really works wonders.

Actually it looks quite bad but it doesn't bother the baby at all, yaar. My nephew had this last month. My sister just used mild virgin coconut oil before bathing him and it cleared up within a week. Don't worry, it is not permanent!

My daughter had this thick yellowish crust when she was two months old. We used Mustela's cradle cap shampoo which was recommended by our doctor, and it cleared it out very gently. Avoid picking the dry flakes when the scalp is dry as it can cause infection.

I have seen this in so many babies over the years. The best way is to keep the scalp clean and dry. A little baby-safe oil followed by a lukewarm bath works best, but if the scalp looks very red or irritated, definitely get your pediatrician to take a quick look.

Please take a deep breath, it is just a phase and your baby is absolutely fine. Just keep the scalp clean with a very mild baby wash. It will settle down naturally over the next few weeks.

Did anyone else feel super scared that they were rubbing too hard while cleaning this? I get so anxious that I might hurt the baby's soft spot. I only use my fingers to gently massage the shampoo and never use a comb, is that safe enough?

My doctor always tells me to keep my environment stress-free to keep my BP in check, and baby health is one thing that stresses everyone. For cradle cap, we used simple home remedies like sweet almond oil for my grandkid. But if it persists, a quick checkup with the pediatrician is the safest path to clear your mind.

My sister's newborn had crazy flakes on his head. We used to put a tiny drop of olive oil, leave it for 5 mins, and then gently clean it with a damp washcloth during bath time. Went away on its own in some days, so don't sweat it.
