My throat is burning so badly and I can barely swallow water. I did some warm salt water gargles but the relief lasted only for five minutes. Does drinking warm turmeric milk or herbal tea help more, or should I go to a clinic immediately?

I had strep throat last winter and honestly, home remedies only gave temporary relief. Since it's a bacterial infection, I had to take a full course of antibiotics prescribed by my ENT doctor. In the meantime, drinking warm chicken soup or clear broth really helped soothe the raw pain.

Totally agree with the antibiotic advice. For quick relief from that sharp swallowing pain, doing warm salt water gargles 3-4 times a day helps a lot.

While your body fights the infection, rest is the most powerful medicine. You can try taking very gentle, slow deep breaths to calm your body's stress response. Keep yourself warm, drink lukewarm water, and avoid any dry or spicy foods that might irritate the throat tissue further.

When I had throat pain, I had to stop my heavy gym workouts completely because the body needs energy to fight the infection. If your doctor allows, a very slow, gentle 10-minute walk indoors can keep you active without draining you. Otherwise, just stick to complete rest and your prescribed medicines.

Strep throat is caused by group A Streptococcus bacteria and requires antibiotic treatment to prevent complications. My doctor explained that self-treating with just throat lozenges can be risky. Please consult a physician for a proper throat swab and prescription, and use warm gargles only as a supportive measure.
