Reflux often happens when you lie down immediately after a heavy meal. Try to keep a gap of at least 2 to 3 hours between your dinner and bedtime. Also, a quick 15-minute slow walk after dinner works wonders for digestion.

Personally, cutting down on my evening tea and spicy snacks completely cured my night-time heartburn. I also started sleeping with my head slightly elevated on two pillows, which kept the stomach acid down.

Before you go spending on expensive specialty antacids or fancy diagnostic tests, try eating smaller meals. Having five small meals instead of three big ones costs nothing and prevents your stomach from overflowing with acid.

Chewing a few fennel seeds (saunf) after food can really calm a burning stomach. However, if your reflux is constant, causes difficulty in swallowing, or is accompanied by chest pain, please consult a doctor to check for ulcers.

Vajrasana is excellent for digestion if you sit in it for 5-10 minutes right after your meals. You can also try sheetali pranayama to cool down the burning sensation in your chest and throat naturally.

Mild cardio or simple walks can keep your gut moving and help with chronic acid reflux. Just make sure you don't do any intense bending or core workouts right after eating, as that will push the acid straight up.
