How to relieve nipple pain from breastfeeding?

My baby is latching well, but sometimes I still experience quite a bit of nipple pain during and after breastfeeding. It's making the feeding sessions tough. What can I do to make it less painful?

Latching is EVERYTHING when it comes to breastfeeding pain. Get a lactation consultant ASAP. They'll correct the latch, suggest different positions, and prevent further damage. Don't suffer through it, it's not normal to have severe pain.

Oh, I totally get it, breastfeeding pain can be excruciating, especially in the early days. It's so disheartening when you want to bond but you're in agony. Warm compresses before feeding and cold compresses after can sometimes help. Also, make sure to air dry your nipples to prevent any moisture-related issues.

Ayyo, nipple pain during breastfeeding is quite common, my mother used to say. It mostly happens if the baby is not latching correctly. My doctor suggested applying pure lanolin cream after each feed, which helped a lot. Also, take care of any cracks quickly to prevent infection. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor or a lactation consultant for help, they are very supportive.

Hey, don't worry, many new moms go through this, you're not alone. The most common reason is an improper latch, so maybe get help from a lactation expert. Also, apply a tiny bit of your own breast milk on your nipples after feeding and let it air dry; it has healing properties. You'll get through this, champ.

My doctor emphasized the importance of proper positioning and latch from day one. She suggested trying different holds like the football hold or laid-back position. If there was any redness or white spots, she said it could be thrush and to get it checked immediately. Lanolin cream was also recommended, and for severe pain, sometimes a mild painkiller that's safe for breastfeeding can be taken.
