How to relieve ear cartilage pain?

I recently got an ear piercing on my cartilage, and now it's constantly aching, especially when I touch it or sleep on that side. It's becoming really annoying. How can I relieve ear cartilage pain from a new piercing?

My son had ear cartilage pain after a rough play. We gently applied a cold compress for a few minutes, which helped numb it a bit. And made sure he wasn't sleeping on that side. If it's very red or hot, please show it to a doctor, it could be an infection.

Ear pain can be very troublesome, beta. For the cartilage, try not to touch it too much. If it's because of new earrings, clean it well and apply a little bit of coconut oil. But if it swells or pains too much, please go to the doctor, don't wait.

If it's from something like a new piercing or trauma, tracking your pain levels and any swelling with a health app can be useful for your doctor. Ensure you're not putting pressure on the ear while sleeping. OTC pain relief can help, but for persistent pain, an ENT should be consulted.

While I don't have direct experience with ear cartilage pain, as someone managing diabetes, I'm cautious about any pain. If it's severe or looks infected, see a doctor, especially if you have diabetes, as infections can be harder to manage. Avoid self-treatment.

Ear cartilage pain, especially if it's persistent, could be a sign of chondritis or perichondritis, which are serious and need medical attention. Don't try to guess or use random home remedies. It's always safer to consult an ENT specialist to get a correct diagnosis and treatment.
