How to relieve back pain from coughing?

I've had a bad cold for a few days, and all the coughing has left my back feeling really sore and strained. Every time I cough, it just makes the pain worse. What can I do to relieve this back pain that's clearly from all the coughing?

Oh, the coughing back pain! Been there, done that. What really helped me was supporting my lower back with a pillow while sitting, and when a coughing fit came, I would hug a pillow or press my hands against my lower back. It really makes a difference to brace yourself.

Aye, this happened to me many times when I had a bad cold. It feels like your back is breaking, doesn't it? But don't worry, once the cough goes, the back pain usually goes too. Just keep yourself warm and try to rest. It will pass, just be patient.

Back pain from coughing sounds like something my fitness tracker would flag as 'unusual strain'! But seriously, try some gentle stretching apps, focusing on your core and lower back. Even just 5-10 minutes can loosen things up. Plus, steam inhalation helps with the cough itself.

Be careful with this. I once had a persistent cough that led to a really sharp back pain, and it turned out to be a muscle strain that took ages to heal. If it's more than just a dull ache, or if it doesn't improve with the cough, please see a doctor to rule out anything serious.

Oh no, back pain from coughing is the absolute worst combo! It's like your body is attacking itself, right? Don't stress too much, it's pretty common. Just try to keep a pillow behind your back, and maybe some warm chai will soothe everything. Get well soon!
