How to relief pain of shingles?

My neighbour recently had shingles, and he said the pain was excruciating. I'm worried about getting it as I'm older. If one does get shingles, what are the best ways to relieve that pain?

Please, please don't try to self-medicate or ignore it. I once thought a rash was nothing serious and waited too long, which made the recovery much harder. Shingles pain can be really severe, so best to see a doctor immediately to get proper treatment and pain relief. Don't make my mistake!

Oh god, shingles! It sounds absolutely dreadful. Honestly, at my age, if it's not one thing, it's another. For this kind of pain, I wouldn't mess around with internet advice. Go to a doc, get some proper meds, and maybe a strong cup of chai afterwards. Hope you feel better soon, it really sounds like no fun at all.

I haven't personally had shingles, so I can't give specific advice on that. What I can say is, any pain that's bothering you a lot or feels unusual, it's always best to get it checked by a healthcare professional. My general approach is to not guess when it comes to health, especially with significant pain. Hope you find relief soon!

I had a friend who got shingles and initially panicked a lot, thinking it was something very rare. But actually, it's quite common. The doc gave him some antiviral meds and pain relievers, and he recovered okay. So, it's definitely treatable, just need to get it checked out quickly. Don't worry too much, just consult a good doctor.

Beta, shingles can be very uncomfortable. My neighbour had it once. The doctor is best for strong medicines. But for a little relief, she used to apply a paste of neem leaves on the area to soothe it, after bathing. And keeping the area very clean is important. But first, always show it to a proper doctor.

For severe pain like shingles, definitely see a doctor first to understand your options. While waiting for your appointment, some people find cool compresses helpful for the burning sensation. Also, wear loose cotton clothes to avoid irritating the skin. But serious pain needs a proper medical opinion, please!
