Don't spend thousands on hospital visits immediately. Keep generic paracetamol at home, do regular cold water sponging, and drink plenty of boiled water. If the fever stays for over 3 days, then book a budget lab test for malaria/typhoid.

Just take a paracetamol tablet, wear thin cotton clothes, and lie down under a normal speed fan. Avoid taking heavy meals; instead, have light moong dal khichdi and warm water to help your body recover faster.

Drinking warm water infused with tulsi leaves and black pepper helps a lot in reducing body aches during a fever. However, if you feel short of breath or have a severe headache along with it, please rush to a doctor.

Taking a lukewarm sponge bath and drinking plenty of ORS water is the most effective way to handle it at home.

Please monitor the temperature closely. My husband once had a high fever that we tried to treat at home, but it turned out to be a severe kidney infection that got complicated due to delay. Please see a doctor if it doesn't drop.
