How to reduce high fever at home?

My husband has a high fever, and we can't go to the doctor right away. Are there any effective ways to reduce a high fever using home remedies? Just need some immediate relief for him.

Whenever I get a high fever, I use normal tap water to damp a cloth and wipe my body. It works, but please consult a doctor for the correct medication dose rather than self-treating with random painkillers.

Fever can cause your heart rate and blood pressure to fluctuate. Keep yourself hydrated with plain water and electrolytes, and make sure to consult a doctor if the fever stays high for more than 48 hours.

Please don't keep trying home remedies for more than a day if the fever is very high. I once ignored a high fever thinking it was normal viral, and it turned out to be severe typhoid that required hospitalization. Get tested early.

When I had a bad fever last summer, my mother kept wet cloth strips on my forehead, which helped bring down the temperature temporarily. Staying in a well-ventilated room without heavy blankets also helped.

Honestly, the worst part of a fever is how bitter your mouth tastes! I survive on hot tomato soup and double-boiled thin khichdi with a drop of ghee. It is light on the stomach and keeps your energy up.

At 50, even a mild fever feels like a major life crisis! Just do the basic cold-water sponging on your neck and armpits, lie down, and let your family pamper you. Don't try to be a hero and work through it.

Aap sar par thande paani ki patti rakhiye aur thoda sa tulsi aur adrak ka kadha pijiye. Isse sharir ka taapman kam hota hai aur aaram milta hai. Apna khayal rakhiye.

Does anyone else get severe body shivering along with the fever? It's so scary when the thermometer hits 102. Is it safe to just wait and do cold sponging at home, or should I go to the emergency room?

Listen, don't play doctor at home with a high fever. Keep your body cool with normal wet cloth wipes, drink coconut water, and if the temperature doesn't fall, go to the clinic. Simple.

Keeping a bowl of normal tap water and continuously sponging the forehead and neck is the safest home remedy to control high heat.

Please be very careful. My son's high fever once led to febrile seizures because we delayed giving him proper medicine and relied only on home remedies. If the fever is high, please show a doctor immediately.

Don't stress too much about it, babe. Just drink lots of water, take a paracetamol if you have one, and sleep it off. If it doesn't go away by tomorrow morning, we'll go see a doc together.
