How to reduce fever in teenager?

I'm a teenager and I've got a fever today, feeling quite weak. What are the best ways to bring down a fever for someone my age? My mom usually gives me paracetamol, but are there other tips?

Since I manage my own blood sugar carefully, I always look at what sick kids drink. If your teenager has a fever, avoid giving them those packaged juices or sugary energy drinks to hydrate. Stick to plain water, fresh lime water with a pinch of salt and very little sugar, or thin buttermilk. It keeps them hydrated without causing unnecessary sugar spikes.

For teenagers, a fever usually goes down with rest and hydration, but if it keeps coming back every few weeks, don't ignore it. I realized my own constant fatigue and low immunity were due to thyroid issues after a simple blood test. If their fever lingers for more than 3 days, please consult a doctor and get proper blood work done instead of just trying home remedies.

Teenagers actually hate staying in bed, yaar. My younger brother had a fever last week and he was still trying to play games on his phone. I had to snatch it and tell him to just take a warm shower and sleep. A lukewarm bath actually helps lower the temperature quickly and makes them feel fresh.

When the body has a fever, it is in a state of high heat and fighting infection. Encourage your teenager to lie down quietly and practice deep, slow abdominal breathing. This simple deep breathing calms the nervous system and helps the body channel its energy toward healing. Gentle hydration with warm tulsi tea also helps soothe the throat and body.

With teenagers, you can be more direct. Tell them to drink plenty of fluids—at least 2-3 liters of water or coconut water a day. Make sure they take a complete break from schoolwork and screens for 24 hours so their body can rest. If the temperature crosses 101, don't wait around for natural remedies to work, just check in with a doctor.

I literally just got over a bad fever three days ago. Honestly, the natural stuff that helped me most was drinking hot ginger-honey water and sleeping under a single light sheet. My mom wanted to put ten blankets on me but I was sweating too much. Just staying hydrated and sleeping it off is the best way.

These days, even common fevers in teenagers can turn out to be viral infections like dengue or typhoid. While you can use damp cloth sponging to bring the temperature down temporarily, please do not rely only on natural methods. Get a proper medical consultation if the fever doesn't subside within 48 hours to prevent any complications.

A balanced approach is always best. You can support their recovery naturally by ensuring they get plenty of rest, light meals like khichdi, and lots of fluids. However, if the fever is high or accompanied by a severe headache or vomiting, skip the home remedies. Consulting a qualified doctor for the correct diagnosis and treatment is the safest path.
