How to read a tb shot?

My son had a TB shot (BCG vaccine) as a baby, but now his school is asking for clarity on previous TB tests. I'm not sure if the doctor meant the shot site itself or a different test. How do you actually 'read' a TB shot's result or impact?

I know how stressful it is to sit and stare at your arm after a TB skin test, wondering if the swelling is normal. The emotional anxiety while waiting for the 72-hour mark is very tough, but please remember that only a doctor can measure the hard bump to give you a real answer.

There is no trick to reading this at home. Just mark the date and time you got the injection, and make sure you go back to the same clinic exactly 48 to 72 hours later. It is a very cheap and quick checkup, so let the nurse measure it with their scale.

When my doctor ordered this test, my stress shot up my blood pressure. I learned that we should stay calm because a positive skin reaction doesn't always mean active TB, it could just mean exposure. Let the healthcare professional measure the skin induration properly.

I agree completely, do not scratch or rub the injection area at all while you are waiting for the reading.

For mild itching around the shot, just let it be and don't apply any home oils or creams as they can spoil the test. If you develop any sudden breathing trouble or a severe high fever after the shot, please go to the hospital immediately.
