How to put xbox in sleep mode?

My Xbox is always on, and I'm worried about electricity consumption. What's the best way to put my Xbox in sleep mode so it's not fully off but also not using too much power?

I wish putting my teenage son to sleep was as easy as putting his Xbox to sleep! You just have to hold the Xbox button on the controller and select 'Turn off console'—if it's set to Sleep in settings, it will sleep.

Go to Settings, select General, and then Power Options. Choose the 'Sleep' mode (formerly Instant-On) so your console downloads updates quietly while consuming very little power.

My son showed me this. Just press the Xbox button on the controller, go to Profile & System, select Settings, and under Power Options, tick the Sleep mode. It works immediately.

Keep in mind that Sleep mode on Xbox still uses a bit of electricity. If you want to save on your monthly power bills, it's actually better to use the 'Shutdown (energy saving)' option instead.

Hey, don't worry, it's very simple. Just go into your Power settings and set it to 'Sleep'. This ensures your games stay suspended and you won't lose your progress when you boot it back up.
