How to put macbook to sleep?

I usually just close my MacBook's lid, but I'm not sure if it always goes into a deep sleep or if something keeps it active. How do I manually ensure my MacBook goes to sleep to save power?

Just shut the lid and you are good to go! Or go to the Apple menu on top left and click Sleep. Super simple and saves so much battery life.

My old MacBook wouldn't go to sleep properly and the battery bloated up completely overnight. If closing the lid doesn't put it to sleep immediately, take it to the service center. Don't risk keeping a faulty battery at home.

Our minds and our machines both need rest to recharge their energy. You can gently press the power button or select Sleep from the top left Apple menu. Let it rest peacefully so it serves you well tomorrow.

When my dinner delivery arrives, I just slam the lid shut to put my Mac to sleep instantly! Otherwise, just click Apple menu and choose Sleep. That way I don't lose my open tabs while I'm busy enjoying my butter chicken.

Make sure no background heavy apps are running when you click Sleep from the Apple menu. If you notice the laptop getting unusually hot even when closed, get it checked by a technician right away. Safety with electronics is very important.
