How to prepare kidney beans for cooking?

I'm trying to incorporate more legumes into my diet, and kidney beans are next on my list. What's the general process for preparing kidney beans for cooking, from dried to ready-to-eat?

I've tried so many ways! For dried kidney beans, the best method is definitely soaking them overnight, 8-12 hours at least. Then, discard that soaking water, rinse them well, and boil them in fresh water until they're very tender. A pressure cooker makes it faster. This really helps with digestion. It works for me.

Ah, kidney beans! My stomach's arch-nemesis if not handled with care. Soak 'em till they're bloated with water, then ditch that water like a bad habit. Pressure cook 'em till they're begging for mercy (aka, super soft). If you still get gas, blame the cook, not the beans! Just kidding, mostly. It's a process.

Be very careful with kidney beans! They contain a toxin called phytohaemagglutinin if not cooked properly. Always soak dried beans overnight, drain the water, rinse, and then boil them vigorously for at least 10 minutes before simmering until they are thoroughly tender. If you feel any unusual discomfort after eating them, please consult a doctor immediately.

Kidney beans ko pakane ke liye, pehle achhe se bhigona padta hai, ho na? Raat bhar bhigo do. Phir woh paani fenk do aur taaze paani mein pressure cooker mein ubaal lo. Soft hone tak pakao. Fir apni pasand ki sabzi banao.

Hello, I'm trying to learn cooking. So, for dried kidney beans, do I just put them in water overnight and then boil? Or is there any specific ratio of water to beans for soaking? And how do I know they are 'very soft'?

For dried kidney beans, you absolutely need to soak them well, usually overnight. Then, discard the soaking water and rinse thoroughly. Cook them in fresh water until they are very soft. This process helps to remove certain compounds that can cause digestive upset. Using a pressure cooker saves a lot of time.

Amma always taught us to soak the dried kidney beans for a full night. Then, the next morning, she would drain the water, wash them again, and cook them in the pressure cooker until very soft. This helps to digest them properly. For any specific health concerns, always follow your doctor's advice first.

I've cooked kidney beans countless times. Soak dried ones overnight, minimum 8 hours, and discard the water. Always use fresh water for boiling. In a pressure cooker, they need about 6-8 whistles on medium flame after full pressure, or until they're easily mashed. Don't undercook, that's where people go wrong.
