How to move a sleep number bed?

We are shifting houses soon and have a Sleep Number bed. My husband and I are wondering how to best move it without damaging it. Is there a specific process or anything we need to be careful about?

These modern heavy beds need a lot of care, unlike our old traditional wooden cots. Make sure you don't lift it alone and strain your back; ask some young boys in the house to help. If your back gets sore after lifting, apply a warm mustard oil massage or use a hot water bag.

When we moved our house last year, we had to fully deflate the air chambers of our Sleep Number bed first. Then we disconnected the pump very carefully and packed it in bubble wrap. It is quite easy if you follow the manual steps one by one.

Be very gentle when lifting the heavy mattress parts to avoid any sudden muscle spasms. If you do end up pulling a muscle and the pain is extremely severe or you feel sudden numbness down your leg, please don't rely on home remedies and see a doctor immediately.

I am so worried about damaging the internal pump and air hoses if I try to move it myself. Has anyone else done this without professional help? Did the air chambers hold the pressure perfectly fine after reassembling it in the new room?

Hey! I helped my roommate move hers last month. We just looked up a quick video on YouTube. The main trick is to make sure the air hoses are completely capped off after you deflate them so no dirt gets inside during the transit.

Just deflated mine completely, packed the pump in a separate box, and rolled up the foam layers. It is basically like a giant air mattress with a frame. Don't drag the plastic parts on the floor or they might crack.

Honestly, moving a bed is a nightmare, especially when you barely get any sleep anyway. Just hire professional packers who know how to dismantle it. Trying to figure out air pump connections while sleepy is a recipe for a broken bed and a bad mood.

My family always advises hiring proper assistance for moving heavy electronics and furniture. It is much safer for your body and your home. If you do try to lift it and experience any sudden sharp chest pain or shortness of breath, please go to the hospital immediately.
