Currently holding an ice pack to my face at 2 AM because this wisdom tooth decided to erupt today. Honestly, sleep is a distant dream. Cold ice packs and soft ice cream are the only things keeping me sane right now!

My back jaw has been throbbing since yesterday and I'm a bit scared. Does everyone have to get their wisdom teeth pulled out, or does the pain sometimes go away on its own after a few days?

Don't worry, wisdom tooth pain is very common when it’s trying to cut through the gums. Try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water four times a day to keep the area clean and reduce swelling. I will suggest booking a dentist visit just to make sure it's not growing sideways.

The worst part of wisdom tooth pain is not being able to chew your favorite foods! I'm surviving on cold chocolate milkshakes, mashed potatoes, and soft dahi khichdi. Definitely avoid hot or spicy foods as they make the pain flare up instantly.

The throbbing pain can make you feel super sluggish. If your dentist hasn't advised complete rest, taking a light walk outside can actually help distract your mind and keep blood circulation active, which helps me cope with the discomfort.

Applying a warm chamomile tea bag or a dab of clove oil to the area can help soothe the mild ache naturally. However, if your jaw is locked, your cheek is swollen, or you have a fever, please don't wait for home remedies and see a doctor immediately.

I can only share what happened to me—my wisdom tooth was coming in sideways and pressing against other teeth, causing constant headaches. Once the dentist extracted it under local anesthesia, the relief was instant. Best to get a quick X-ray done.

I was absolutely terrified thinking I would need major jaw surgery when my lower tooth started hurting. But my dentist reassured me it was just normal teething pain as it broke through the gum, and a simple gel was enough. Don't panic, it’s usually very routine!

Stop experimenting with random home pastes you see online, you might end up irritating the raw gum. Wisdom teeth often get impacted or grow at bad angles which only an X-ray can show. Go see a professional dentist and get it checked.

I've tried everything from chewing cloves to applying specialized dental gels. While clove oil on a cotton swab gives quick numbing relief, the warm saltwater rinse is actually what keeps the gum infection down. Do these till you get a proper checkup.
