How to make red kidney beans?
I bought a packet of red kidney beans (rajma) from the market, but I'm not sure how to cook them properly at home. My wife makes excellent rajma chawal, but she's out of town. Can someone give me a simple recipe?

I always forget to soak them overnight and end up staring at solid rocks in my pressure cooker at 2 AM. Seriously, soak them for at least 8 hours or your cooker will have to work for hours.
I had terrible bloating because I didn't cook my rajma properly last week. I've realized adding a pinch of hing (asafoetida) and ginger during cooking is absolutely necessary to prevent gas.
The secret to amazing rajma is the slow cooking! Boil them with a pinch of baking soda, and then cook them in a rich onion-tomato gravy with lots of ginger and ghee until they melt in your mouth.
Raw or undercooked kidney beans contain harmful toxins that can cause severe stomach upset. Make sure you boil them completely until they are totally soft, don't trust quick cooking shortcuts.
I understand getting worried about heavy foods causing stomach issues, it used to give me so much anxiety. Just soaking the beans well and discarding the soaking water makes them very easy to digest.
