How to make laptop not sleep?

I'm often downloading large files or running programs that take hours, and my laptop keeps going to sleep in the middle. I have to constantly tap the trackpad to keep it awake. How can I make my laptop not sleep at all when I need it to stay on?

I totally get it, it is so annoying when you are downloading a huge file and the screen just goes black! You just need to go to your system settings and change the sleep timer to 'Never' when plugged in. It saves so much frustration.

My laptop goes to sleep faster than I can finish a plate of hot momos! I just downloaded a tiny app called Caffeine which keeps it awake automatically. Now I can munch on my snacks peacefully without touching the trackpad every two minutes.

Just search for 'Power and Sleep' settings in your Windows start menu. You can easily adjust the sleep timeout minutes from there.

I used to put a small heavy object on my shift key to keep the screen active, but that's a temporary जुगाड़. The best practical way is to just adjust the control panel settings permanently so your screen stays active.

If this is about your laptop, check the battery health and settings. But if you meant 'how to keep myself from sleeping while working on a laptop', please get your overall health and sleep cycle checked by a doctor to rule out chronic fatigue.

I was researching this yesterday because my screen kept locking during movie downloads! Most tech blogs suggest using small utility tools like Awake to override the default system sleep rules easily.

Just open your screen saver settings and disable 'turn off display' or use third-party apps like Caffeine. It takes exactly two clicks to resolve this. Very straightforward.

I just use a free tool called Amphetamine on Mac or Awake on Windows. Works like a charm when you are running long render jobs overnight. No need to mess with system control panels every single time.

I think you asked a computer question here instead of a medical one! But just like we adjust laptop power settings to prevent shutdown, we must monitor our blood pressure regularly with checkups to keep our own bodies active and healthy.

Haan na, during long office calls the screen goes black and then we have to login again and again, so annoying. Just change the sleep settings to 30 minutes in control panel, problem solved easily.

I actually thought my laptop had some major software bug when it kept shutting down during my online exams. Turns out, it was just a simple screen timeout setting that was set to 2 minutes. It is totally normal, don't worry about it!

My son was showing me how to change the energy saving plan on my screen so it stays active during my evening reading. It is quite simple to adjust in the system preferences under the battery icon.

This seems like a tech question posted in a health forum by mistake! But speaking of feeling sluggish and wanting to sleep all the time, do get your thyroid (TSH) levels checked regularly if you are facing constant fatigue yourself.

Listen brother, no need to overcomplicate this. If it's a work laptop, sometimes your office IT blocks changing these settings. If it is your personal machine, just change the battery sleep plan to 5 hours or never.
