How to make ear pain go away?

My ear started hurting really badly last night, and I can't get to a doctor until tomorrow. Is there anything I can do at home to make ear pain go away, or at least lessen it, in the meantime?

For temporary relief, you can use a warm compress on the outer ear. I usually track my symptoms on my health app to see if there is any fever. However, if the pain persists for more than 24 hours, you should consult an ENT doctor immediately.

Look, the ear is a very sensitive part, so please don't put random oils or drops into it without checking. A warm compress is fine for some comfort, but if it hurts bad, just go to an ENT specialist and get it checked properly.

I was looking up ear pain remedies and saw that many people recommend steam inhalation to relieve sinus pressure that causes earaches. It seems safe, but I would still be scared to put any liquid inside the ear canal directly.

Applying a warm dry cloth gently on the side of your face can help soothe ear discomfort. We used to put warm mustard oil in the past, but nowadays doctors advise against putting anything inside the ear. Please be careful and see a doctor if the pain is severe.

I agree with avoiding self-medication. Keep your ear dry and see a doctor if there is any fluid discharge or severe throbbing.
