How to know if you have thyroid problems?

Been feeling really sluggish lately and my weight has been fluctuating without any change in diet. My mother has thyroid problems, so I'm a little concerned. What are the signs that indicate someone might have thyroid issues?

If you're suddenly gaining or losing weight despite maintaining your diet and exercise, or feel exhausted even after a good workout, it could be a sign. Thyroid also affects energy levels and metabolism. While regular walking and exercise are great, for such persistent issues, get your TSH levels checked. A doctor will confirm if it's thyroid and if your current fitness routine is okay.

Persistent fatigue, unexplained weight changes, or hair loss are common signs. A blood test is the only way to confirm.

Look, thyroid issues manifest differently, but common symptoms are persistent fatigue, unexplained weight gain or loss, feeling too cold or hot, hair loss, and mood swings. If you're experiencing a cluster of these symptoms, don't self-diagnose. Get a blood test (TSH, T3, T4) done by a reputable lab and consult an endocrinologist.

Please don't ignore these symptoms. I had severe fatigue, hair fall, and just felt generally off for months, thinking it was just stress. It turned out to be an underactive thyroid that got worse because I didn't get it checked early. Timely diagnosis and treatment are so important to avoid complications. Go to a doctor and get your blood test done.

How to know? Well, if you're sleeping even more than me (which is impossible) and still feeling like a zombie, or if your weight is playing hide-and-seek, then your thyroid might be having a party without you! Jokes aside, persistent tiredness and weight fluctuations are big red flags. Time to get that blood test, my sleep-deprived friend.

For general well-being, healthy food and some herbal teas can do wonders. But for thyroid, it's not simple. If you are feeling very tired, gaining weight without reason, your hair is falling a lot, or you're always cold, these are serious signs. While I believe in natural ways, for such symptoms, it's best to see a proper doctor and get blood tests. Don't take chances with important organs.
