How to know if you have liver flukes?

I recently travelled to a rural area and had some unpurified water. Now I'm feeling generally unwell and a bit feverish. My friend joked about liver flukes. What exactly are liver flukes and how would I know if I have them?

My doctor explained that liver flukes, if present, can cause symptoms like fever, chills, abdominal pain (especially in the upper right quadrant), diarrhea, and jaundice. Eosinophilia (high eosinophil count) in blood tests is a common indicator. Definitive diagnosis usually involves finding fluke eggs in stool samples or sometimes imaging.

Oh, liver flukes sound really scary. Has anyone here experienced persistent abdominal pain or unexplained fever? I've been feeling a bit unwell and my mind immediately goes to the worst-case scenario. Just wondering if these are common symptoms.

Beta, if you suspect something like this, it's important to consult a doctor. These kinds of infections can be serious. While good hygiene and eating well-cooked food are always important, for internal parasites, home remedies alone might not be enough. Go to a good doctor, they will know best.

Liver flukes? Sounds like something out of a horror movie! 😱 But seriously, if you're not feeling well and have unexplained tummy pain or fever, it's definitely time for a doctor visit. Don't try to evict any unwanted 'guests' from your liver by yourself, let the experts handle it!

Liver fluke infections can be asymptomatic for a long time, but if symptoms appear, they often include abdominal pain, fever, nausea, and weight loss. In chronic cases, jaundice or liver enlargement can occur. The most accurate way to diagnose is through laboratory tests of stool samples. A medical professional should always be consulted.

Don't get too worried about liver flukes unless you have specific reasons to suspect them, like consuming raw freshwater fish or plants in endemic areas. The symptoms are similar to other infections – fever, abdominal discomfort, general malaise. If you have these and a relevant travel/food history, just get it checked by a doctor. They'll run tests to confirm.

Hey, it's natural to be concerned. If you're worried about liver flukes, especially if you've eaten raw or undercooked seafood or plants, symptoms like persistent stomach ache, feeling sick, or even fever can appear. It's not something you can diagnose yourself, so please see a GP. They'll know exactly what tests to run.
