How to know if you have exercise induced asthma?

Every time I do an intense workout, especially running, I start coughing and feel like I can't catch my breath. It gets a bit scary sometimes. Could this be exercise-induced asthma, and what are the signs?

For working professionals, time is crucial. If you experience shortness of breath, wheezing, or a persistent cough consistently during or after physical activity, schedule an appointment with a pulmonologist. They can perform specific tests like a spirometry with exercise challenge. Don't delay, as proper management can significantly improve your quality of life and performance.

If you notice coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or chest tightness starting 5-20 minutes into or after exercise, it might be exercise-induced asthma. Don't ignore it just because you think tests will be expensive. Getting a diagnosis early can prevent bigger health issues and costs later. Talk to your GP; they can guide you on affordable options.

If you suspect exercise-induced asthma, you absolutely need to see a doctor, preferably a pulmonologist, and get tested properly. Explain your symptoms clearly: when they start, what activity triggers them, and how severe they are. My doctor at Apollo told me they often do a 'methacholine challenge test' or exercise testing to confirm the diagnosis. Don't leave it to guesswork.

Beta, if your breath becomes short and you cough a lot after even a little physical work, like climbing steps or walking fast, it is not normal. Some say ginger tea helps with breathing, but for such conditions, it is important to go to the doctor. They have the wisdom to cure it. Do not delay, listen to your elders.

It's tricky because many conditions have overlapping symptoms. For exercise-induced asthma, typical signs are coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, or chest tightness during or right after physical activity. But remember, self-diagnosis can be misleading. Always get it properly diagnosed by a doctor, especially a specialist. They will do the necessary tests to confirm it.

Hmm, if you're out for a run to burn off that extra pav bhaji and suddenly you can't breathe properly, that's a big sign! Wheezing and a tight chest after exercise are definite red flags. Can't enjoy your food if you're not fit, right? Go see a doctor, they'll sort it out.

My son has exercise-induced asthma, and we noticed he'd always start coughing badly or get really short of breath during football practice, even when others were fine. Sometimes he'd wheeze too. If your child, or even you, shows these symptoms during or after activity, it's important to take them to a pediatrician or pulmonologist. They can get the right medication to manage it.
